Despierta

We've asked Tita to only speak to Eli in Spanish so that hopefully she'll learn two languages easily growing up.

Here's a video of her singing to Eli in Spanish.

Eli's First Bottle

We started introducing a bottle today and will hopefully give Eli a couple bottles a week. That way I can have a little more quality time with her and Tita can feed her so that Sabina and I can hopefully make our weekly date nights a little longer.

Finally!

The rest of Eli's belly button finally fell off. Seemed like it would never happen!

Just Like Mommy

So, this is how Sabina holds her hand when she brushes her teeth. I mean, c'mon, how did Eli pick that up? So cute!

Tummy Time In Action

Eli did a great job in Tummy Time with Dad, Mom, Grandpa, and Grandma encouraging her.

More Pink

The pink just keeps coming. I have to admit, she's pretty darn cute in this one. It's her first time in a dress as well.

I think I'll have to go watch a few episodes of Man vs. Wild to compensate.

Pacification Embarkation

Well we waited the recommended 1 month before introducing the pacifier. Let me just say that bath-time was the PERFECT time to try it. Worked like a charm!

Visit From Grandparents!

Grandpa and Grandma came to visit for Easter!

Tummy Time!

The doctor also said it was time to go ahead and start tummy time a couple times a day. Eli did so well her first time! Check her out getting her head off the floor!

Then she turned her head to the other side.

Then she was done. :-)

One Month Stats

So here's the scoop from her 4 week visit. Eli now weighs 7 pounds 4 ounces and is 20.75 inches long. The part of her belly button than fell off previously wasn't all of it. So, we will continue with sponge baths until the rest falls off.

Also, her right ear had gotten red, swollen, and had a little yellow funk on it. So, the doctor gave her some antibiotics. The doc said that she would normally wait to see if it gets better or worse, but since she's still so young, it wasn't worth the risk.

Old Faithful

At the pediatrician's office, we got Eli into her birthday suit so she could be weighed. We just used a wipe to cover up the potential fountain. As soon as we got to the scale and removed the wipe, Old Faithful let loose. As you can see, Eli got Mom pretty good. No matter how long you wait or try to prevent it, Eli can pee at just the right time.

Bath Upgrade

So, of course you knew there would be more pink coming into the house now that we know our baby is a girl. Well, Eli received an upgrade on her bathing environment and we used it for the first time tonight. Overall, she wasn't a big fan of using more water, but I grabbed this shot during one of her calmer moments.

Achoo!

I've wanted to capture this on video for a while because I think it's so adorable. So, I held the video camera and waited. Fortunately, she always sneezes more than once. Usually, it's two times, sometimes three, and one time four... just like her Mom. I waited for the first one and caught the second one on video. So cute!

What does she see?

Ok, I don't know how far Eli can see or if she can see color. But, it appears that she has seen her mobile for the first time. Mom watched her follow it with her eyes.

Side note:
I know, I know, the monitor is not supposed to be inside the crib. We've moved it since then. It just takes so long to read through all the warnings that come with absolutely everything.

It's Off!

18 days old and the cord came off!

Had To Learn At Some Point

Not too long after her arrival to Tita's house, Eli had her biggest diaper blowout yet right in her carseat. So, it was time to learn how to completely disassemble it in order to wash it (yes, I read the instructions).

Due to the graphic nature of the event, evidence photos have not been included. Trust me, you wouldn't want to see it.

Trip To Tita's

Eli had her first visit to Tita's house (that's what Teresa wants Eli to call her). She spent the whole day there Sunday and loved her home away from home.

Roam If You Want To

So, a big thank you to the Leimbergers who loaned us their baby monitors (bottom right of photo). It's so great not to be tied down to Eli's room. We can go to Starbuck's, the movies, wherever. The best part is, it seems the further we go from home, the less we hear her cry. Amazing!

Workout?

Who says you can't find time to workout when you have a newborn?

Eli Goes Green

Eli's only 10 days old, but we figured that's as good a time as ever to introduce her to recycling. So, all three of us loaded up our crate and took it to the recycling center.

Out And About

We broke in the stroller yesterday since the weather was so nice. We saw some of our neighbors while we were out. Also, we went to visit the staff in the leasing office. Eli was so thoughtful to bring a bag of peanut M&M's to them.
